About

What this is

One person's reading of the research, written to support a personal story on the blog at https://brianspringer.com. It is a first contribution that could grow if people find it useful.

What it is not

It is not an authoritative reference. It has not been reviewed by a community, by clinicians or by researchers. It is not medical advice.

How an entry is made

Each entry starts from personal notes. It is then checked against published research, with AI assistance, in a fixed order: new and recent research is gathered; every factual claim is listed and tied to a source; a separate review tries to find claims the sources do not support, and those are fixed or cut; the text is rewritten in plain language; a younger-reader version is written and checked against the first. The author reviews the result before it is published.

What the labels mean

  • Established: supported in people by a systematic review, or by at least two independent studies, with no substantial body of work against it.
  • Emerging: there is evidence in people, but it is limited. Single studies, small groups, or results that have not always repeated.
  • Hypothesis: a proposed explanation. The evidence is indirect, or comes from animals or cells, and it has not been tested directly in people.

What "Last reviewed" means

The date an entry last went through the checks above. It does not mean the entry is current or complete. Research moves on, and an entry may be out of date.

Corrections and topics

Every section has a "Suggest a correction" link, and selecting any passage offers one too. Topic suggestions are welcome from the same pages.
